How it works
Create events in two ways: on the website (the full onboarding flow) or directly on WhatsApp by chatting with our bot. This page walks you through both journeys — from first message/sign up to publishing your event website.
Create your account
/signup and fill in every required field:- Full name: used for personalization (and can be passed into onboarding).
- Phone number: you pick a country code from a dropdown (with a small country search input above it), then type your local number.
- Email address: where your verification code will be sent.
- Password: must meet the visible rules: 8+ characters, at least one uppercase, one lowercase, and one number.
- Terms checkbox: you must agree to Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before continuing.
When you press Continue, you move to a short security step (reCAPTCHA). After it completes, your account is created and the system sends a 6‑digit email verification code.
Verify your email (6‑digit code)
/onboarding/verify. You enter the 6-digit code sent to your email. You can also:- Use the Copy button to copy the 6-digit code.
- Tap Resend Code (with a cooldown timer) if you didn’t receive it.
- Go Back to signup which signs you out and returns you to
/signup.
After verification succeeds, you continue into onboarding so you can create your first thing immediately.
Onboarding: choose what you want to create
/onboarding/select-create which asks “What do you want to create?” You can choose:- Create an event (this is the path to publish your first event website).
- Create a love message (goes to the Love Messages dashboard).
- Create a Valentine invite (goes to the Valentine Invites dashboard).
- Or Skip for now to go straight to
/dashboard.
If you pick Create an event, onboarding takes you directly into the event creation flow.
Choose how you want to create your event (Manual vs AI)
/onboarding/select-event you first choose your creation mode:- Create manually: you’ll pick an event type, a template, then fill in details step-by-step.
- Create with AI: takes you to
/create-event-aifor a guided experience.
In manual mode, you then pick the event type (Wedding, Birthday, Graduation, Baby Shower, etc.). Some types may show as Coming Soon and can’t be selected.
Choose a template
/onboarding/select-template. You’ll see a grid of templates with previews:- Free templates can be selected immediately.
- Premium templates show a Premium badge and may appear locked if your plan doesn’t allow them.
- When you pick a template, the flow automatically advances to the event details step.
Fill in your event details (this creates the event)
/onboarding/event-details. This is a multi-step form (Step 3/4) that captures the minimum information needed to generate your event workspace and website URL.The exact fields depend on event type. Examples:
- Wedding: Bride’s name, Groom’s name, Wedding title → date, time, venue name → venue address, note to guests, website URL slug.
- Birthday: Celebrant name, optional age, party title → date, time, venue name → venue address, description, website URL slug.
- Graduation: Graduate name (required), optional class year/school/program → date/time/venue + address + note + website URL slug.
- Baby Shower: Parent 1 name (required), optional Parent 2 + baby name, event title → date/time/venue → address, note, website URL slug.
When you click Save, the app creates: your Event, your Event Website record, and (depending on type) the corresponding details tables. You’re then redirected to /dashboard/event/<eventId>/website.
Create events by chatting on WhatsApp
This path is perfect if you want to create (and manage) events without filling long forms. You just chat.
- If you don’t have an account yet, the bot signs you up inside chat: it asks for your full name, then your email. Behind the scenes it creates your account, verifies it, and links your WhatsApp number to your profile.
- If you already have an account, it can link your WhatsApp to that existing account so it can create and manage events for you.
- You tell it “Create an event”, then pick an event type(Wedding, Birthday, Baby Shower, Graduation, etc.). Then you describe your event in plain language: title, date, venue, and any notes you want guests to see.
- The bot checks your plan limits, creates the event as a draft, applies a sensible default free template, and can auto-fill key sections so you’re not starting from a blank page.
- It then sends you direct links to Preview and Publish.
- When you’re ready, you can simply say “Publish my event” and the bot can publish it for you (or you can publish manually from the dashboard).
- Want photos? Tell it you want to add images. You can send images in the chat and ask it to put them on your hero or gallery.
- Want to share the site with someone? Tell the bot who you want to send it to and provide their WhatsApp number — it can share your published event link with them directly in WhatsApp.
Whether the event was created on the web or via WhatsApp, it ends up in the same dashboard. You can always refine details and publish from /dashboard/event/<eventId>/publish.
Preview, set your URL, and publish
/dashboard/event/<eventId>/publish. The publish screen has three tabs:- Preview: open the full preview before you go live.
- Configure URL: edit your slug (must be lowercase, numbers, hyphens; at least 3 characters).
- Publish: a toggle switches your website from Draft to Published.
Before publishing, the app highlights readiness items like event title, event date, and venue information. Once published, your public website is live at /e/<your-slug>.
